Demi Wright, a 22-year-old
British makeup artist, died weeks after being diagnosed with
adenocarcinoma, a rare cancer that had spread all over her body. Doctors
allegedly originally admitted Wright to the maternity ward of a
hospital in November when she complained of a pain in her side and they
found hormones similar to pregnancy ones in her diagnostic tests, the Colchester Gazette reports.
When
Wright's pain did not subside for months, further tests confirmed that
she had a 12-centimeter cancerous growth and she was transferred to
Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge. She died three weeks later, on Feb.
23.
"We feel robbed," Wright's boyfriend Mitch Gregory told the Gazette.
Her father said the loss was quick and "devastating:" "When we found
out it was terminal, she lifted herself up, she patted the bed and said,
'Dad, come and sit here.' She gave me a big hug and said, 'It's going
to be okay.' The next day, she passed away."
Wright's
funeral was held yesterday at the Colchester Crematorium Chapel. Her
family asked anyone attending to wear yellow for cancer research and to
donate to a Race for Life in Wright's name here.
